This exhibition documents our modern-day travel adventures and provides a space where we can share experiences and discoveries. It is set to complement the current exhibition China through the Lens of John Thomson (1868-1872).
We invite you to explore this exhibition as if you were travelling; witness new places, see new people and take in new experiences through the lens of over 100 photographers. As a crowdsourced exhibition, there are more than 700 photos, which span six continents and 60 plus countries. While the subject matter ranges from landscapes to cityscapes, animals to humans, vast oceans to open skies, they all share common themes - they were taken to share with loved ones, remember a moment in time and to capture a hint of discovery. It is in this element of discovery where these photos connect to those that John Thomson took 150 years ago during his trips to China.
Show Me Something I Don’t Know was developed by the University of Alberta Museums. This exhibition also includes photographs by the pioneering mountain guide Joe Weiss from the early years of Jasper National Park selected from the University of Alberta Art Collection.
