The University of Alberta Museums in collaboration with SNAP and Edmonton print artist Liz Ingram are pleased to host the KYOTO Hanga 2016 exhibition – International Print Exhibition: Canada and Japan organized by Akira Kurosaki, chairman of the Kyoto Print Exhibition Executive Committee. For its first time in Canada, this exhibition will explore over 150 contemporary prints by Canadian and Japanese artists in a way that creates a compelling storyline of recent printmaking in both countries. Artists in this exhibition represent some of the best that Canada and the Kyoto/Kyushu region of western Japan has to offer and all of them have helped to build the strong reputations in printmaking held by both these countries.
International Print Exhibition: Canada and Japan was first opened at the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art, the Tokushima 21st Century Cultural Information Centre, and The Tokushima Modern Art Museum Gallery in October 2016.
About the Kyoto Print Exhibition Executive Committee:
Every two years the Kyoto Print Exhibition Executive Committee partners with a country to present an international print exhibition. Canada follows other countries such as Great Britain, Poland, Australia and the United States in collaborating over an exhibition.
